    Together with the Experimental Pharmacology Group of VUB 4BRAIN is forming the Alliance for Neuromodulation in Epilepsy (AMIE), recognized by the Flemish Research Fund. Research topics of AMIE include photopharmacology and noradrenergic modulation of astrocyte function in epilepsy.

    In collaboration with TOBergmann lab associated with the Johannes Gutenberg University Medical Center Mainz and the Leibniz Institute for Resilience Research 4BRAIN is preforming preclinical research on the effects of focused ultrasound (FUS)-mediated blood brain barrier opening (BBBO) and neuromodulation. Researchers of 4BRAIN were trained at TOBergmann lab to perform FUS neuromodulation in humans.

In collaboration with Prof. dr. Steven De Vleeschouwer we are studying noradrenergic modulation of glial function.
