Radiotherapy

Radiotherapy is a highly effective treatment for many types of cancer. At the 4Brain and INFINITY laboratories, radiotherapy delivery protocols for both cell and small animal irradiation studies have been optimized using the Precision X-Ray SmART+ system.

By exposing cancer cells to radiation, such as gamma rays, X-rays or high-energy electrons, their DNA is damaged, leading to cell death. It is delivered alone or in combination with other treatments such as surgery and/or chemotherapy. For preclinical research in our lab, this SmART+ platform is used which integrates advanced treatment planning and delivery software, enabling precise radiotherapy experiments. For in vivo applications, the system supports MRI-guided radiotherapy, where MRI and CT images are fused within the planning software, allowing accurate tumor identification and targeting.
